Swansea
Hills, sea views and changeable weather
Swansea climbs up the hills around the bay, so plenty of homes in Uplands, Sketty and Townhill have sloping gardens and steps. The outdoor unit might go on a wall bracket rather than the ground, and we'll find the spot that's safest and easiest to service.
Along the coast in Mumbles and around SA1, salt air and wind are worth planning for. And since 1 June 2026, Welsh planning rules have made air-to-air systems much simpler to fit for many homes.
- Sloping plots
Wall brackets or a level base, whichever is safest and quietest.
- Seaside homes
Sheltered positions and yearly servicing for units near the sea.
- Simpler planning
Welsh permitted development now covers air-to-air heat pumps.

FAQs
Air con in Swansea: your questions
Still unsure? Call us on 0330 043 7869, 7 days a week.
Is planning permission needed in Swansea?
In many cases, no. Wales changed its rules on 1 June 2026, and air-to-air heat pumps can now be fitted without an application if they stay within the size, noise and position limits. We still check listed buildings and conservation areas first.
How much does air conditioning cost in Swansea?
From £2,000 fully fitted for a wall mounted system, and from £3,800 for two rooms on one outdoor unit.
Can you install on a sloping garden?
Yes. We'll use a wall bracket or a level base, whichever is safest and easiest to service.
Does sea air affect outdoor units in Mumbles?
It can over time. We place units away from direct spray where possible and recommend a yearly service.
Do you cover Gower and Neath?
Yes. We install across Swansea, Gower and nearby towns.
