Mitsubishi Heavy Industries vs Mitsubishi Electric
There are two different Mitsubishi air conditioning brands. Mitsubishi Electric started as a factory of Mitsubishi Shipbuilding, which is now Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, and became a separate company in 1921.
Today they are competitors with their own products. Airomax installs Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) systems, which you'll see as model names starting SRK, SRC, FDT and SRF.
How to spot an MHI system

Inside every unit
The technology that makes them premium
What you're paying for when you choose Daikin or MHI over a budget brand.
Inverter compressors
Instead of switching on and off, the compressor speeds up and slows down to hold your temperature. That means steadier comfort, quieter running and lower bills. MHI calls its version Hyper Inverter.
Heat pump heating
Both brands' systems are air-to-air heat pumps. They heat as well as cool, giving out several units of heat for every unit of electricity, and keep working in sub-zero weather.
R32 refrigerant
R32 has a global warming potential of 675, about a third of the older R410A. Daikin launched the first home air conditioner using R32 in 2012.
Wi-Fi and app control
Set the temperature, timers and modes from your phone, at home or away, with the Daikin Onecta app or MHI's Smart M-Air.
Jet Air and 3D airflow
Powerful, quiet airflow that reaches further into the room, so large spaces warm up and cool down evenly.
Allergen and self-clean filters
Filters that trap dust and allergens, with self-cleaning operation to keep the inside of the unit fresh.
Flash Streamer air purifying
On selected models like the Emura, Daikin's Flash Streamer helps break down odours and allergens in the air.
Design-led units
The Daikin Emura is an award-winning design in white or silver, made to look good on a feature wall.
Whisper-quiet running
Indoor units run from around 19 to 22dB(A) on their lowest setting, quieter than a whisper and ideal for bedrooms.

Is Mitsubishi Heavy Industries the same as Mitsubishi Electric?
No. They share the Mitsubishi name and history, but they are separate companies. Mitsubishi Electric began as a factory of Mitsubishi Shipbuilding (now Mitsubishi Heavy Industries) and became its own company in 1921. Airomax installs Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) air conditioning.
Who makes Daikin air conditioners?
Daikin Industries, a Japanese company founded in Osaka in 1924. It has more than 96,000 employees in 173 countries and has made air conditioners in Europe since opening its factory in Ostend, Belgium in 1973.
Is Daikin or Mitsubishi better?
Both are premium Japanese brands with excellent reliability. Daikin offers a wide range including designer models like the Emura. MHI is known for strong, quiet airflow and good value. We'll recommend the best fit for your room and budget.
Why are Daikin and Mitsubishi more expensive than budget brands?
You pay for better compressors, higher efficiency ratings, quieter operation, longer-lasting parts and wide UK spare parts and support. Over 10 to 15 years, lower running costs and fewer repairs usually make up the difference.

Manufacturer warranties require installation by a qualified, F-Gas certified installer, following the manufacturer's instructions. Airomax installs every system this way and adds a 5-year warranty.
Where are Daikin and Mitsubishi air conditioners made?
Both are Japanese companies with factories around the world. Daikin has made air conditioners in Europe since 1973, with plants in Belgium and the Czech Republic among others. Exact factories vary by model.
